|Personal History||Brad's life started out horrible, at only 6 months of age Brad's parents were killed in a terrorist attack on the hotel they were staying at during a vacation. Among the rubble Brad was found still in his mother's arms and with no living relatives, he was placed in an orphanage on Earth. But thankfully Brad's life would not end there, Mark and Denise Pennell found out that that they were unable to have a child of their own and read about Brad's miraculous survival and set out to find this infant boy. After a few months, they were able to find him. They then began the fostering process that would allow them the opportunity to adopt Brad. After a year, the Pennell's adopted Brad.
From an early age Brad experienced what SF was like, as Mark Pennell was a Security Officer/Professor at SF Academy. Denise was a civilian Bio-mechanical Engineer who also taught some classes at the Academy but most of her time was spent at the hospital. Brad's life after that was pretty normal with him growing up, attending school, playing sports and other activities.
At the end of Brad's Junior year in high school, he was invited to the SF Academy summer prep course. Over ten thousand applications are received and three hundred are accepted. The next year Brad received his acceptance letter to the Academy.
Brad left in the summer of that year to begin prepping for the upcoming year. But as fate would have it Brad's adopted Father was killed by a smuggling gang leader that Brad's father was investigating. This tragic event made it very hard for Brad to focus and he almost left the Academy, but thankfully there was Rear Admiral Hatsuhara, a former colleague of Brad's father. RA Hatsuhara, took Brad under his wing for the rest of the semester and Brad decided to stay. Brad finished out his remaining time at the top of his class as well as being rewarded several distinguished awards.
After graduation, Brad was stationed on the USS Gladiator as a Strategic Operations Officer. He served with distinction and was promoted to Lt. Jg. as well as Chief Strategic Operations Officer. He was then transferred to the USS Artemis, where he served as 2nd Executive Officer as well as Chief Chief Strategic Operations Officer. He was promoted to Lieutenant shortly before receiving orders to be transferred to SB 249 for a new assignment.
